When it comes to sustainability, the University of Minnesota shines. Hear from six University leaders on what sustainability encompasses, how to practice sustainability on campus, and where the University leads in this space.

Members of the University of Minnesota’s Project Dinkytown club aim to make Dinkytown a better place by promoting cleanliness and safety.The club meets once a week on Fridays near the Dinkytown Target to pick up litter around the area. 

The UMN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Initiative is excited to announce the 2025 SDG Research Grant competition!

The University of Minnesota has been outlining its climate strategies for over two decades. Now the strategy is preliminary research and planning, with continued action on select items.

Both new and returning students will soon continue their educational adventures at the University of Minnesota this fall, and when they do, they’ll have thousands of courses to choose from.

Griffin Peck, the Morris Model coordinator, initiated a planning effort to update and expand the scope of our sustainability strategic vision for the Morris community. This work included using the SDGs as a framework as they established new goals and priorities. 

The UMD Robotics Club, was selected as the recipient of the 2023 University of Minnesota Systemwide Sustainability Student Impact Award!

The challenge is a nationwide competition among colleges and universities to reduce waste generated at home football games. UMN beat out 54 other universities to win!

Minnesota joins nine states in effort to develop zero emissions ironmaking and ultra-low life cycle emissions steelmaking.

Annually, only 15 percent of textile waste is recycled while over 90 million tons of textiles are discarded globally and 14.5 million tons are incinerated or put into landfills in the United States alone.  UMD researchers are working on a solution.
